Elliot
Goldenthal in his 10year presence, is a living proof that maturity in music
comes after several years of hard work. He started delivering some
mediocre albums (Alien3, Demolition Man, Sphere) but 3 years ago
"inspiration" burst in his mind with the scores of In
Dreams, Titus and now Final Fantasy.
"Final
Fantasy: The Spirits Within" was a very demanding movie as it
belongs to the animated genre. Excellent realistic CGI scenery and
characters should be escorted by excellent breathtaking music. The
score is full of brass, mostly French horns and trombones.
Goldenthal also uses large choir and percussions. The London
Symphony Orchestra made a great performance indeed. My speakers went
crazy every time the CD was moving from a peaceful, melodic track to
a heavy one, full of brass and tensive themes, that could easily
blew my ears and speakers, too!
This score is an experience just like the
movie. The movie is an outstanding visual experience and the
soundtrack is a great, all-time classic listening experience. It is
for me the best work of Goldenthal. He managed to create thematic
tracks, with scary and sheer moments. Actually this work is an epic
size production for an epic size (regarding the cost of the movie
production) movie. Buy it! |
